9 Tips on how to manage your "BUDGETED POCKET MONEY" during your trip to El Nido
When you hear the place El nido, The immediate reaction is "too expensive" but in reality, it's actually not. Here are some tips that worked for us during our trip.
It's summer time and lots of travellers out there planned their trips ahead of time, but still ending up spending a little bit more than planned. So here it is my first helpful tip...
1. Look for the cheapest deal; van transfers, accommodation, food and tours. There are a lot of traveler groups that offer such deals. This is the best time to enhance your investigative skills. RESEARCH. COMPARE. AND YES, PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE.
2. Learn how to HAGGLE. Sweet talk and ask for discounts. You'll be surprised on how low the prices can get when you use your God given charms.
3. Eat cheap on the road!
Yes, cheap but clean. You don't want to spoil your trip just because you had that stomachache. There are a lot of KARENDERIAS. Always ask the locals!
4. Say hello to PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.
This would definitely help you save money. Most of the tourist destinations in the Philippines does not require you to ride a taxi unless you're in the metro. Never forget to ask the locals the real fare is. Because of course most people charge more because you're a tourist. ✌🏼
5. List down ALL your expenses.
This is a way for you to monitor what's coming out of your pockets, but of course, don't stress yourself too much. you are there to enjoy not to think about how small the money left on your pocket is. MONITOR BUT DON'T STRESS 🙂
6. Be friendly! Earn new Friends!
Join other groups
If you are a solo traveller you can join other groups to save money for the tour plus you earn new friends.
There's a lot of hostels who offers shared room, that will help you save money which you can use for some other stuff
7. Save that water bottle.
Since it's summer and Mr Sun loves to go out, you need to have that water bottle with you, of course no one likes to get dehydrated while on the trip.
You can save as much as 100 pesos because of that. So don't throw that water bottle.
8. Plan your Itinerary ahead of time. You'll save money and effort. Plan wisely. this is one of the best way to make the most out of your money.
9. And again... TALK TO THE LOCALS!
Be FRIENDLY, they are the best people to ask where to find the cheapest deal. Sometimes they can offer you free food and free accomodation.
Below are some pictures taken during our trip.
I will post soon the breakdown of our expenses.
